The Process of Finding the Line

The process of finding the high point:
Find the high point
  • Identify the 6 o’clock position.
  • Evaluate the Slope from the Low Side.
    • Pick the spot the ball will role in the hole.
    • MENTALLY draw your Arc back to your ball.
    • Pick the high point of the arc.
    • Find Your Spot on the Green.
    • This is where you ROLL a straight putt to.

     

     

     

     

    Find the High Point Drill:

    Let’s reverse this Process so you get a Feel for Diagnosing the Line:

    • Find an 8’ putt on the practice green with some break.
    • Place a flat marker where the ball would be.
    • Get on one knee directly behind the marker.
    • Roll the ball with your hand on the line of the Arc.
    • It may take you a few rolls to find the Arc.
    • Pay attention to Finding the High Point of the Arc.
    • Once you Find it place a flat marker at the High Point.
    • Place a Flat Marker where the ball Enters the Hole.
    • Roll a Straight Putt to the High Point.
    • With Correct Speed the ball should Roll in the Hole.
